New power plant technology in Walsrode Industrial Park
Equipped with environmentally friendly gas turbines for an influx of new companies. Traditionally, the advantageous infrastructure of Walsrode Industrial Park has included the site’s own power plant with the two smokestacks which can be seen for miles around. With the construction of a new €4 million gas turbine facility this year the industrial park is setting new standards in infrastructure

The new gas turbine, which is planned to go online in autumn this year, has now been delivered.
Industry Park Manager Alf Wilkens says, "This - our largest investment in the site infrastructure to date – will ensure the efficient and environmentally friendly supply of energy to the companies at the site in the long term. Probis GmbH, the technical service provider for the site, has a very complex engineering task while the power plant continues to operate – from planning to commissioning and subsequent operation of the new turbine”.

The new gas turbine in Walsrode Industrial Park weighs 56 tons and will provide seven megawatts of electricity. Enough to power two intercity trains.

The focus is on ensuring supplies and the environment

The companies at the industrial park have high supply demands. Probis supplies enormous amounts of energy for the production facilities 24x7– in the form of natural gas, steam, electricity and compressed air.
The power-heat cogeneration technology of the new gas turbine plant generates electricity and steam in a very environmentally friendly manner. "The more efficient use of natural gas minimises carbon dioxide and greenhouse gases. We are now able to supply around 50% more electricity while guaranteeing increased climate protection," explains Joachim Kulms, manager of the power plant.

The industrial park commissioned Probis to manage the gas turbine plant project. Decisive factors for choosing Probis were the company’s many years of experience in operating and optimising plants. Other Probis units are also collaborating in the implementation in addition to the team of 25 power plant operators. The power plant building has been suitably modified and the next step is to install the new technology.
